Hello Goddess Sister!
Spring is emerging just around the corner but has not yet blessed us with her floral blossoms and sun rays. You may be starting to feel the ignition of the fire energy in your body as Aries season is closely approaching. Depending on where you live, you may be still in snow or there could be some Spring buds starting to pop up like where I am in Northern California. Regardless of your area of residence, the current season is bringing forth the winds of preparation and purification.
This leads me to a few questions I invite you to ask yourself this month.
What is your heart yearning for you to do in preparation for the arrival of Spring?
What unfinished business do you need to settle?
What must you cleanse and release to make way for the new?
Just as your home calls for spring cleaning, so does your mind, body, and soul. There’s a period right before Spring emerges where you listen, prepare and transform. If you do this with intention and use your herbal allies, you can use this energy to Spring forward with grace, ease, and joy.
Nervine Herbs for Listening and Calming the Nervs:
Chamomile + Lemon Balm
How do you listen? Do you journal, make time for quite contemplations, or go for silent walks without a cellphone? Do you meditate and ask your dreams for guidance? How deeply do you listen to the person you care so greatly for? If your mind is running a mile a minute, then taking a nervine which helps to calm your nerves will support you in bringing stillness to the mind. Chamomile is one of my favorites as it can help assist you in calming the nervous system and generate a peaceful feeling within. It is also great for menstrual cramps and stomach indigestion. Lemon Balm is also a great herbal ally. It’s a nervine, carminative, and antidepressant. In some studies it has even shown that the compound (rosmarinic acid) in Lemon Balm can reduce anxiety and send signaling effects to the brain that relieves stress.
How to make a Lemon Balm Tea Potion:
What you will need:
1/4 cups Fresh or Dried Lemon Balm Leaves
1 cup hot water
Raw honey for sweetener
If you are using dried leaves you may steep in hot water for 2-3 minutes. Add honey or sweetener and enjoy!
If you are using fresh leaves chop up the leaves to release the oils. Let sit in water for 10minutes, heat it needed, add sweetener, and enjoy!
Spring Herb for Transformation:
Before Spring emerges and a new season arrives, transformation of the old happens. What must you let go of before you move forward to the new energies? A great Spring herb for transformation would be Nettles. Nettles grows in many areas around the world, and you can get this herb easily at a health food store. Nettles might be available and growing wild in your area, but if you do forage, please ask the plant permission first, make sure it’s in abundance, and be careful of the stinging nettles that may grab at you. Nettles is transformative, tonic, nutritive, iron rich, a diuretic, astringent and supports high blood pressure. With its diuretic properties, one great thing of about nettle is that is will help you clear out the old energy of winter and even body weight to make room for the new. Nettles also has some “fire” energy to help you with the coming Spring months. Also, don’t forget to drink more water to replace the lost water from drinking this tea.
If you align with Mother Earth and listen to her song, you can accomplish more by tuning into her flow. Listen to her by following her rhythms and seasons. I trust this coming Spring will bring you joy and accomplishment.
